Dima Arnold in My Life Unfortunately, I have never been Arnold’s student, although as a mathematician, I owe him a lot. He was just two years older than I, and according to the University records, the time distance between us was still less: when I was admitted to the Moscow State university as a freshman, he was a sophomore. We knew each other but did not communicate much. Once, I invited him to participate in a ski hiking trip (we used to travel during the winter breaks in the almost unpopulated northern Russia), but he said that Kolmogorov wanted him to stay in Moscow during the break: they were going to work together. I decided that he was arrogant and never repeated the invitation. Then he became very famous. Kolmogorov announced that his nineteen year-old student Dima Arnold had completed the solution of Hilbert’s 13th problem: every continuous function of three or more variables is a superposition of continuous

A Lacanian Study of Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
This paper is an attempt to explore how Lacanian concepts of desire, unconscious, as well as alienation are reflected in the major characters of Vladimir Vladimirovich Nabokov’s Lolita. Before unleashing the new, inexplicable yet highly fascinating aspects of psychoanalysis by the advent of French poststructuralist and psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan, Freudian psychoanalysis used to play the pivota...
متن کاملCoding for a Model of Random-access Memories of a Computer and Write-unidirectional Memories
The OR-NOT operation x _ y between two binary vectors x and y of the same length is viewed as an operation between the new and old content of a random-access memory used to increase the speed of the access to the memory. Coding procedures that allow us to recover x based on x_y are developed and connections of this model of the memory with the model of write-unidirectional memory are established.
متن کاملMolecular and Quantum Dot Floating Gate Non - Volatile Memories
Conventional Flash memory devices face a scaling issue that will impede memory scaling beyond the 50nm node: a reliability issue involving the tunneling oxide thickness and charge retention. A possible solution is to replace the continuous floating gate, where charge is stored, with a segmented charge storage film, so that leakage through defects in the tunneling oxide would be localized. We fi...
متن کاملForming a unique identity derived from cultural values hidden in the collective memories of citizens
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The city is not just about appearance. People are present and live with architectural and urban spaces. The changes of Bojnord city after becoming the provincial capital have had many and sometimes destructive effects on the city. The issue of bad identity of cities is not a new one, but how to deal with it, despite the history of the problem, is stil...
متن کاملOdor Memories: The First Sniff Counts
A new study which combined associative memory tests with functional magnetic resonance imaging of the brain has identified a potential neural correlate of the special association that is formed when an odor is first paired with a visual object. Odor memories in humans are likely to be processed by a separate memory system with distinctive features that make odor memories different from visual o...
متن کاملLectin and enzyme relationships in microbiology
Examples of inter- and intramolecular direct co-functioning of lectins and enzymes are summarized. The data indicate importance of lectin-enzyme relationships in molecular and clinical microbiology and medical biotechnology. Lectin-enzyme relationships have extended prospects in medicine and biotechnology.
